Papers coming home are often corrected in class by your child to give him/her immediate feedback
Sometimes, I don't send papers home. Often, I will keep assignments to share at conferences or for me to use to look at error patterns to see how I might better serve your child.
Papers are marked with performance scores:
Grades
The scores that you will see on your child's papers coming home will either be the following letters, or a percentage score.
SP
Strongly in place
Student shows consistent evidence of mastery of knowledge/skill at or above grade level.
Consistently 94 - 100%
MP
Making Progress
Student shows consistent evidence of mastery of knowledge/skill at or above grade level.
Consistently 70 - 93%
This student is considered to be on track for 3rd grade
ND
Needs Development
Student shows inconsistent or no evidence of mastery of knowledge/skill at grade level.
Consistently 0-69%
Students at this level may either be on the verge of "getting it" or they may be struggling. Unfortunately, there is no way for me to distinguish between the two on the report card.
M
Modified Instruction
Out of grade level
This is typically for students receiving Special Education
NA
Not Assessed
Knowledge/skill is not assessed this trimester
All skills listed on the report card will be assessed at some point during the school year
